The other day in Asheville, and again this weekend in Brevard, I came across a black magazine box covered with lightning bolts beside the other area publications.
Inside was a new humor publication called ANDY, which stands for Apparently Not Dead Yet.
The first issue set up the premise that this free quarterly based in Barnardsville wants to entertain as well as spur its readers to insight without becoming "a typical local newsy rag about politics and gardening."
Most of the copy, which was creatively laid out all over the place, centered around the introduction of a cartoon mascot and ruminations on death as it pertained to Shemp Howard of the Three Stooges.
That's a different brand of comedy and won't appeal to everyone, but I found it pretty funny and hope you will too.
Look for an issue wherever you get your news or go to www.apparentlynotdeadyet.com.
Kaboom... rumble, rumble, rumble..
Lightnin' has spoken.
